There is a thief in the house...

I think we have a thief in our house. That's right you heard me. I think our little Ian got up in the middle of the night and hid his snot sucker thing-a-ma-bob.

Well you be the judge. Does this look like the face a snot sucker thing-a-ma-bob thief?

wordless wednesday (although I am usuing words)

Ian loves to roll around the living room, the other day he rolled over to the laundry basket and pulled off the clean undies and started to play with them! Silly boy.

Ian is loving bath time. This is an action shot of him splashing the water, he closed his eyes so the water wouldn't get in them, smart boy!

Making an apron...

I am so excited! I have been wanting to get or make an apron for so long. Seriously when I cook/bake I just wipe my hands on whatever I am wearing. The worst part about that is when I have somewhere to go and I forgot that I have wiped my dirty hands on my shirt or pants! Oh well, I blame everything on being a new mom. When will that excuse stop being valid?

So I have told you all about my very talented friend Haley (see PBandJane). She helped me make a blanket for Ian before. She is gong to help me make an apron! We met up at Hobby Lobby the other day and got the material and lace for the apron. I had found a pattern that I liked at Wal-Mart a few days earlier so I brought that along and we had a good ole' time! Only to be cut short by my dentist appointment. Ugh. Here is a picture of the material that I got and the pattern that I am using is in the picture too. The one I want to make is in the middle (red polka dot apron).
Also I am so excited to tell you about the MOM’S NIGHT OUT FOR OKLAHOMA WOMEN BLOGGERS! For more info go to Blogging Basics 101. I am going to it with my friend Lindsey! I am so excited!

Frog pool...

So while I was pregnant with Ian, my wonderful hubby got me a frog pool. It was, technically, not for me. However, I love frog stuff so I thought it was cute. We decided to set it up today and let Ian play in it. After all he loves bath time, so why wouldn't he love pool time? We forgot about the fact that bath time has warm water! So as soon as we sat him in the cold water pool he cried! Poor Ian. We quickly pulled him out and held him, even though that meant we got wet! Here are a couple of pictures of the pool and Ian's first experience with it.

Friday night was ladies night (oh what a night)! My friend Christyn hosted it this time. She made some yummy enchiladas. We laughed we cried (ok we didn't actually cry). But we did do some laughing. I tell you those girls are such a blessing to me. And can I just say that I have the best husband in the world. He completely understands that I need this time each month and is happy to stay at home with Ian. I love him so much! He is so sweet. After two of the girls had left Christyn and I decided to go to Braums. I called him to make sure that was ok with him and he sounded unsure. He said he missed me! How cute is that. After he said that I realized I missed him to, so our trip to Braums was a quick one. ;)

Silly little boy...

Today Ian, AJ and I went on a walk with our friend Ashley and her son Jack. We walked 1.773 miles! I put Ian in our back pack baby pack thing. I thought that would help him stay awake, but alas he still fell asleep! Ashely had her camera with her so she took a picture. Thanks Ashley.

Ian has figured out that he can roll under the love seat! He is so silly. He didn't stay there long, just long enough for me to snap a picture! He knows his mommy!

7 months old!

So last night we had our FLOCK get together. It was fun! The hosts had chickens. Ian wasn't sure what to think about them, but it was fun letting him look at them. It ended up getting colder than we thought it would so we headed out earlier than everyone else. One of these days I will remember to pack a jacket and/or extra blanket for Ian. Poor kid.

Ian and the chicken having a staring contest :)

Ian going down the slide "by himself"

I just thought that the black and white chicken was cool looking

The cake went over well! I was so relieved that it tasted good. It looked good, but I couldn't taste it before hand like I could with some other things I make.
This is all that was left when we went home and Justin and I finished it off today!

Ian turned 7 months old today! I can't believe how much he has changed. He is such a talker and rolls around everywhere! Today he had his first hair cut. I know you are thinking, "really?". But he had some hairs that were growing longer than the rest of his hairs so we decided to use Justin's clippers and get them even. He did really good. A lot better than we thought he would do.

Ian kept trying to eat the newspaper that we had under his chair!

FLOCK gathering...

So tonight Justin and I have a get together with our FLOCK from church! I love that they have a get together each month. The last one we went to was the penny auction and we left Ian with our friend Lindsey. This time however Ian is going to come with us! I am not sure what all the evening will entail, but I am looking forward to it. Here is a picture of the cake I made for tonight's festivities! It is a chocolate peanut butter mousse cake (you can find the recipe at this blog). For more yummy chocolate posts go to Stop and Smell the Chocolates

I can't stop thinking about food!

I found this blog (click here) that had an amazingly easy recipe for gourmet drizzle popcorn. So being the adventurous person that I am decided to make some today. (Yes Justin I will save some for you) :)

I did one batch of dark chocolate and another batch or dark chocolate with peanut butter mixed in! Mmmm! Since the popcorn hadn't really cooled yet (and I am sure it doesn't help that it is super hot in my house today) the chocolate has yet to harden. So I have put one pan in the fridge and the other is still on the counter because, well lets face it, I don't have much room in my fridge. Here are some pictures of it...

Pancakes in the oven...WFMW

So awhile back I found this blog that talked about pop up pancakes. I had never heard of them but they looked oh so yummy. So I copied the recipe and make them. They were not at all like I thought they would be. They weren't bad per say, but they were not pancakes. So needless to say I was very disappointed. I thought the thought of making pancakes in the oven (using a muffin pan) sounded so good. Perhaps a lot less to clean up and you could worry about making your other items (such as eggs or bacon) while those were in the oven cooking.

Well today I finally did it! I made pancakes in the oven! They are so yummy. And it was so easy. I just used pancake mix from a box, added the water it required and then put it in the muffin cups. Baked for 16 minutes at 400 degrees.

About me, Chapter 2...

I love my son. He is such a blessing to Justin and me. I couldn't imagine what our life would be like if he wasn't around. I love watching Justin with him. He has far passed any expectations that I had for him as a father. The way he constantly adores Ian is so cute.

It wasn't long ago that I wasn't married. I lived with my step-grandmother and went to church only occasionally. I think I valued sleep more than fellowship with other christians at the time. Anyways, I had some medical issues and for that reason my doctor put me on birth control pills. At the time it only made things worse causing me to bleed everyday, rather than just the normal 7 days out of the month. This kind of freaked me out. I remember having a panic attack one night. I called my mom barely able to talk. I was crying and in between breaths would talk about how I was so scared I wouldn't be able to have children. My poor step-grandmother wasn't sure what to do. I think I remember handing the phone to her and my mom asked her to get me a glass of water. I eventually calmed down from that attack, but satan new it was a fear and played on it all the time.

Once I was married I still continued to have that fear. I think I took a pregnancy test each month (or two or three tests), even though we were on birth control pills! I was so scared that I would get pregnant but something would happen to the baby because I was taking those pills. Darn that satan. We spent so much money on tests. I still struggle with wondering if I am pregnant. The ladies I used to work with make a joke any time I talk about taking a test, they say "what brand do you buy, I want to buy stock in it".

I am going to try harder now to not give in to the fear that satan so loves to play on. I want to trust that God knows what is best and if that means I get pregnant before Justin and I plan then that is ok.

So there you go. A little bit about me that you may not have known. If you have any questions for me then ask away and I will be happy to answer them.

two strollers and doctor appointment

So this Tuesday I took both boys with me to the library and then on a walk! I had Ashleigh take a picture of me pushing both strollers! I need to find a way to make it easier (any one have a double stroller they could lend me for a few weeks?).

I had my appointment with the endocrinologist. It went very well. I really liked him. His name is Dr. Muchmore. The entire office staff, including the doctor, were all ok with having Ian there. When we were leaving he even said "Now you make sure you bring Ian back next time so we can see how much he has grown." I thought that was really nice. But on the the medical part of it. :) He said my thyroid was 3 times the size it should be! He could tell just from looking at me and then he felt it and was like yeah your doctor was right to send you here. He said I have lymphocitic thyroiditis. So he basically increased my dosage of the medicine I was already taking and then I will come back in 12 weeks to see how it is working. All in all it went pretty well and he answered questions that I would have ended up calling with eventually like "what happens if I forget to take a pill" (FYI the answer is to take two the next morning).

Easier said then done...

I have not been doing so good at my new challenge of closing up the computer for 30 minutes every hour. It is really, let me emphasize REALLY, hard! I did good the first day, but since then I haven't done it.

Today I have an appointment with an endocrinologist. I have been having trouble with my thyroid (or so says my OB doctor). So here we go to figure out what the deal is with that. I will keep you updated.

Week 3...

Week 3 of not watching TV in the mornings has officially started. I won't lie. It a little harder when the boys are sleeping, to keep off the tube, but I need to do this. I need to use this time to clean, do laundry, pay bills, etc. I need, wait, I want to be a Proverbs 31 women. I have read so many blogs lately talking about being frugal that it really inspires me to try harder.

Along that same note I have decided that while I am home during the day I am going to make sure and close the computer for 30 minutes an hour. Yes close it. I don't want to just say I won't be in front of it because I can still look over at it to see if I have any new emails. I am going to close it so that I can get up and play with Ian or AJ, clean, do laundry. Basically all of the things I listed above. I have already done it once this morning, from 9-9:30 I closed it up. Now I have about 12 minutes before my next session. Which is good timing since I both boys are about to fall asleep.

If you have posted a blog about being frugal or being a Proverbs 31 women, then leave me a comment with a link to it. I would love to hear others ideas and how they handle it.

Oh and the most important thing of all...Praise God for sending his son to us. To die on a cross for our sins. To take the wrath of God on his shoulders. This is something I could not even fathom doing. If you don't know what I am talking about and would like to know more, PLEASE leave me a comment with a way to contact you. God loves you so much!

The cake!

Justin and I went on a date night Friday night! We got to eat at Outback Steakhouse (yummy) and then we went to our local high school (Edmond Santa Fe) and watch Guys and Dolls. It wasn't until the last part of the musical that I figured out we had a setting on our camera that helps stabilize the camera (or something like that) so most of the pictures I took were blurry to say the least. But here is a good one that I got. The person who played Nicely-Nicely was the best, I think. I personally think he should have been more of a lead character, but what ev, I wasn't the casting director. :)

Here is the ice cream cake that I made for Justin's birthday! It turned out quite well, if I do say so myself. We had a fun day celebrating. We went to Hideaway Pizza and then came home for cake and presents. Then Justin and I went to Office Depot, Staples, Payless shoes and Conn's. Well I went to Payless Shoes and Justin went to Conn's while I was there. :)

ice cream cake!

Tonight Justin and I are going to go on a date! We are going to have dinner at Outback Steakhouse and then go see Edmond Santa Fe's production of Guy's and Doll's! I can't wait. It is much needed. Our last date night ended early because Ian wanted to be with us so bad he cried for Nana and Pawpaw until they couldn't take it anymore. In addition to Justin being sick, so like I said, this date night is MUCH needed.

Tomorrow is Justin's birthday! He will be turning...old, very old. :) Just kidding baby, you are young as a spring chicken! ;) I always joke him and tell him that no matter how old I get, he will always be older. I am planning on (planning being the key word here) making an ice cream cake for him. This will be my first time making one, so we will see how that turns out and I will post some pictures once it is made. Also, we are going to Hideaway pizza! MMM, yummy.

Not much else to blog about today. Oh wait, I do want to say congrats to our friends Ashley and Noel on the birth of there very sweet baby boy, Jackson! We got to go and see them at the hospital and he is ever so very cute!
