Washington D.C. trip...

I had the opportunity to join Justin on a trip to Washington D.C. this month. It was amazing! I really enjoyed it and for sure want to go back someday! Perhaps when Justin can join me in our outings, he was at meetings most of the days. We did get to meet for lunch some days and then had dinner and the evenings together.

I think my favorite part was just being able to walk around so much and do what I wanted to do. Not having to worry about what others wanted to do was a huge deal for me, seeing how I usually have to worry about three other people and what they want to do to. Not that I am complaining about that because I love my boys and my husband and wouldn't change taking care of them for anything, but having a break is nice too. :)

If you ever get a chance to go to D.C. I would highly recommend doing some training before hand. Since you walk so much. :) I had a horrible blister after the first day and by the evening time I didn't want to walk anymore, which limited where Justin and I went for dinner. Also, recommend getting a hotel near a Metro stop, that would help a lot.

I will be posting this week about visiting Georgetown Cupcakes! This is the cupcake store that is on DC Cupcakes on TLC. Okay, enough rambling, here are some pictures!

Isn't this doughnut amazing? It was huge!!

A different resolution...

Happy New Year! I can not believe it is two thousand and twelve...twenty twelve...2012!!!!

This past Sunday at church one of our pastors (who just happens to be married to my step sister, I guess I could have just put brother in law, oh well now it is even longer of a post), Chris, spoke about New Years resolutions. It really got me thinking.

So many of us make resolutions or goals for each year. Perhaps weight loss (always on my list, not just during at the beginning of the year), stop smoking, walk more. You get the idea, I am sure you too have made such a resolution. Our pastor asked a question "Is share Christ on your resolution list?" Talk about conviction! Straight to the heart too. I am ashamed to say that I have never put that on my list of things to do. And why not? It should be on our mind all the time.

Philippians 1:22a (ESV) If I am to live in the flesh, that means fruitful labor for me.

Again, straight to the heart with that verse! Paul is saying that if he is alive here on earth then he will labor for Christ. Do I labor for Christ everyday? I am not even going to answer that due to the fact that I am ashamed of my answer. I don't know about you, but I can get distracted SO easily. When I go to bed at night I typically get inspired to do things the next day, but by the morning I am too tired or I get busy with other things that I don't do the stuff I had planned the night before. I have missed opportunities to minister to people because I decide I would rather stay home and sit by my email or look at facebook. Another thing Chris said was "It's not like we will get to the end of our life and wish we would have checked our email more." Shoot! Was he speaking directly to me or what?!?!

This year I have one thing on my list of goals/resolutions...Share Christ with others. Now that I have shared that with you, I am ask that you help keep me accountable to this. If you are out there and you don't know Christ I beg you to PLEASE leave me a comment with a way to contact you and I will be happy to share with you.

Stayed tuned in the next few weeks I plan to have a giveaway!
