Prayer's of a child...

Yesterday we got some news regarding one of my best friends adoption situation. I can't go into detail, but just know that I felt like I had gotten kicked in the stomach and it isn't even my child!

After finding out the news yesterday I got on the phone to spread the word so that people would be praying. My sweet Ian asked what was going on. I explained in the most simplest of ways and he seemed to understand. In fact every time I was on the phone yesterday he told me to tell the person on the other line to pray! I loved that!

After getting home from our outings yesterday we got on the living room floor and prayed. Yes, my two year old and four year old prayed for their dear friend. They were simple prayers, amazing prayers! God heard those prayers. This is how Owen's prayer went "Dear God please help L feel better more amen." Ian's prayer went like this "Dear God, thank you for this day, please be with Aunt L and Uncle S and baby S"

I'm not sure why I am sharing this story. Honestly I had a great post all "written" out in my head last night about this story, but of course I can't remember a thing but the title!

being a mom...

As a mom you come to learn that being unappreciated is part of the job. Especially when they are young. Not that you do things for your children just to get appreciation, however it sure would be nice.

The other day Ian was asking me to play with him. I was sitting on the couch looking at the computer. He then said "all you do is look at the computer and tv." Oh man, that was a slap in the face. Here I thought I was doing a great job being a mom, but not so much. Well that was just the wake up call I needed to get up and start playing with the boys.

Hide and seek is one of our favorite games to play. Ian, as I said in a previous post, really likes playing the Wii.

I do want to continue to make a point to play with my kids, take them on adventures, however it feels like the more I play with them the more they want me to play with them! It's like a drug or something! This mamma needs a break! And a little appreciation for all that we did yesterday sure would be nice. I mean bowling, Wii, playing outside, and art projects you can eat. Does it get any better?

Anyways, that was just my little rant for the day. I'm worn out.

Bowling...

Lately Ian has really gotten into playing video games. He really likes to play anything Mario Brothers. Which is fun, because Justin and I like that too. However, it is a lesson in patients playing video games with a 4 year old!

Another one he likes to play is the Wii Resorts games. Yesterday we were playing bowling and it occurred to me that the boys had never been bowling in real life! So our adventure for the day was planned!

We headed to the bowling alley, got our shoes and bowling balls and played a game! Yes, just one game. You see it took us an hour to just get done with that one game. The boys did good, the balls rolled slowly down the lane. I was surprised that neither of them got upset when they didn't knock any pins down, which actually only happened a few times, most of the time they knocked at least one down!

Granny shot :)

Granny shot :)

Owen did really good, he wanted to carry the ball all by himself!

Ian just looks so old in this picture!
Ian's score was 64, Owen 60 and mine was 108

Sunday feast...

Today was a great day. No, I take that back, today was a blessed day! We visited a local church this morning with our new friend. It was like water to my dehydrated soul! The music, the preaching, the people. It was just what I needed to be refreshed.

After church our new friend and her parents invited us to their house for Sunday lunch. And let me tell you, this was more like a feast! We had grilled chicken, rice, grilled veggies and salad. Then to finish off we had a homemade peach cobbler! We haven't had a Sunday lunch like this since...well probably since I was a kid! It was so nice to get to visit with this sweet family and learn more about the church that we visited. The kids had a blast too! Their was a slide in the grand kid's room!

All and all today was wonderful. We even got a short bike ride in and were able to meet a neighbor who has a 4 year old and an 8 month old!

Thank you LORD for giving us this today!

My sweet boys...

Story time by Daddy.

update...

I feel as thought I should update on how we are going. Not that there are any people other than family reading this, but just in case, here goes.

Moving was crazy! They called on a Friday and said we are moving you Saturday. Um, okay, I guess I should get things ready. Thankfully I had a whole bunch of stuff packed up from getting our house de-cluttered for showings, so it wasn't too stressful. Saturday morning came around and the movers began packing up the rest of our things. This was weird. I mean these strangers were touching all of our things and knew everything we owned. Not that they cared, this was normal for them to do. Still strange to me.

Before the movers were even done I headed to our new home with the boys. They were being a little mischevious so we decided to leave early. Justin ended up staying till much later because he had to clean the floors and stuff before he left. We spend the next two nights sleeping on an air mattress (Justin and I) and nap mats (the boys).

Monday, December 24th, yep Christmas Eve, the movers showed up! They began unload all of our things. Some things went in the house, but most things were put in the garage to go through later. About an hour after the movers left we headed back to the OKC area to spend Christmas with Nana and Papa and the rest of our family that would be in town.

Christmas day was great! The boys woke up to their Santa gifts (bikes) and most of our family got to come by for a short time. The crazy part was it began to snow! Because of the snow anyone who drove to Nana and Papa's house decided to make it a quick trip so as not to be stranded. It was still enjoyable though, although quite rushed.

Christmas afternoon Justin had to leave to come back to our new home, since he had to work the next day. The boys and I stayed in OKC so that we could spend a little more time with Nana and Papa and drop off the air mattress that we borrowed from our friends.

Since then we have spent many days just hanging out at home, trying to unpack. The kitchen took the longest, especially since it took us two weeks to find our plates and silverware! Needless to say, I'm pretty thankful for paper plates and plastic ware!

There are still a ton of boxes that need to be gone through, but we seem to be at a point in the unpacking that all of the necessities are unpacked. The boys seem to finally be getting better at sleeping later. For the first few weeks they were waking up between 6:30 and 7:00. Something I am not use to at all!!! This week however, they have been sleeping in till 7:30 or 8:00, which is more to my liking.

I guess that is about it for now. We are hoping to find a church home soon. Also, big news will be in March when we register Ian for Pre-K!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

We got snow here over the weekend! So Sunday morning we loaded up the boys and our newly purchased sled and headed to the park. It was SO cold, but very fun. The boys only went down about 5 or 6 times, but enjoyed every time. Here is a picture and a video.

We also got to hang out with Nana and Papa this weekend! Our first over night visitors! We had a good time showing them the places we like to go and then on Saturday evening my mom and I watched Miss America! Overall it was a great visit!

We've moved...

That's my big news! My husband, kids and I packed up (well the movers did most of the packing) and moved! For privacy I won't say where, but we are enjoying it so far!

The past two weeks we have been with out internet or home phone, which was seriously difficult. If you saw someone sitting in the parking lot at McDonald's taking advantage of the free wifi, well it was probably me. :)

So get ready, I will hopefully be posting more about our new adventures in our new place!
